Five Palestinians were killed by Israeli fire and many others were injured during several military operations in the occupied West Bank today, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health.
“One civilian was killed by gunfire” in the central West Bank town of Silwad, bringing the death toll to five today, the ministry said.
A member of the Silwad municipal council confirmed the death of Abdul Rahman Hamed, 19, during a military operation in the village in the early afternoon.
Earlier today, the ministry announced the death of two men in Dura, in the south.
The Israeli military said it conducted there “anti-terrorist operations during the night”.
According to the army statement, “a violent riot broke out. Nearly 80 people took part in it. Stones were thrown at the Israeli forces, who responded by opening fire.”
The Palestinian Ministry of Health also announced his death of 16-year-old Rani Yasser Khalaf al-Saer, who was killed by the occupation forces in Tekoa, in the south. The Israeli army said soldiers “killed a terrorist who tried to attack them with a sharp object while they were guarding the area”.
The ministry also announced the death of Thaer Naim-Hamo, 21, a resident of al-Yamoun, near Jenin (north). Residents spoke of arrests and clashes during the night.
According to a representative of the Palestinian Prisoners’ Association, the Israeli army arrested 40 Palestinians in several areas last night, Sunday to Monday, increasing to 6,370 the number of those arrested since the war between Israel and Hamas began.
