The Russian president Vladimir Putin he finally granted an interview yesterday Tuesday to conservative US TV host Tucker Carlson because – as the Kremlin argued – “his approach differs from the one-sided reporting of many traditional Western media.”

The representative of the Kremlin Dmitry Peskov stated that the Western media no longer attempt to appear impartial in their reporting on Russia and said that there is no longer the willingness to communicate directly with such journalistic organizations.

“As far as the countries of the collective West are concerned, the major online media and the major newspapers cannot in any way boast that they are even remotely trying to appear unbiased in their coverage.

These are all media outlets that take an extremely one-sided position. Of course, there is no desire to contact such media, it makes almost no sense and is unlikely to be useful,” he added.

When asked why Putin granted an interview to Carlson, Peskov said that his position contradicts much of the Western media.

“His position is different from others. It is in no way pro-Russian, it is not pro-Ukrainian – it is pro-American, but at least it contradicts the traditional Anglo-Saxon media’s position,” said Peskov.

The interview is likely to be released on Elon Musk’s X platform tomorrow Thursday, as reported by the Russian news agency TASS, citing reports from the Wall Street Journal.

The Kremlin announced today that it is receiving requests for an interview with Putin by Western media, refuting comments by Carlson, who boasted that he was the only one who wanted to speak with the Russian president.

His former star presenter Fox News, who is close to Republican former President Donald Trump, claimed yesterday that “not a single Western journalist bothered” to interview Putin after the attack on Ukraine began, while announcing that he would soon broadcast an interview with him.

“No, its not like that”, the spokesman for the Russian presidency responded today when asked about these statements. Instead, “we get a lot of requests for interviews with the president,” he said, but the Western media don’t try “at least to appear objective and adopt a very biased position,” he added.

Tucker Carlson, who has been accused of popularizing conspiracy and racist theories, has a “a position which contrasts with that of the traditional Anglo-Saxon media’Peskov commented, confirming that the interview with the Russian president has been granted to this presenter.

Before leaving Fox News last April, the network hosted “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” one of its most popular shows. From 2016 to 2023, Carlson portrayed an America besieged by immigration and Black Lives Matter protests.

Today, Carlsonwho now hosts a show on his website and X (formerly Twitter), has repeatedly criticized American support for Russia’s war in Ukraine.

As of Tuesday, many Western journalists have emphasized that they have tried to talk to Putin, contrary to what Tucker Carlson claims.

“Tucker really believes that we journalists haven’t tried to interview Putin every day since the start of his invasion of Ukraine?” protested Christiane Amanpour, a famous correspondent for the American channel CNN. “This is absurd – we will continue to ask for an interview, as we have done for years,” he said.

Steve Rosenberg, a BBC journalist, also said he had sent “a number of requests”. “For us, it’s always ‘no.’

The Russian president has not given an interview to Western media since the attack on Ukraine began in February 2022.
