Video released by the Israel Defense Forces on Wednesday reveals what it says is a location where Israeli hostages were being held.

In particular, the IDF video inside a large Hamas tunnel in Khan Yunis, southern Gaza, shows a cell used to hold hostages, a bathroom and a rest area for the gunmen guarding the captives.

The military said a total of 12 hostages were held in the tunnel at different times, three of whom have already returned to Israel.

The IDF said senior Hamas officials resided in the tunnel before it was adapted to hold the hostages, and that troops recovered various items and weapons from the tunnel.

At the same time, the Israeli army said that the tunnel was built “in the heart of an urban area in Khan Yunis” and according to its estimates, millions of shekels were invested in its construction.
