“Israeli occupation forces raided Al Amal hospital and began to search it,” “we are having difficulty communicating with our teams inside,” reports the Palestinian Red Crescent
Israeli forces today stormed a hospital in Khan Younis, in the southern Gaza Strip, which they have been besieging for weeks, the Palestinian Red Crescent, which runs the facility, said.
“The (Israeli) occupation forces raided Al Amal hospital and began to search it,” “we are having difficulty communicating with our teams inside,” the Palestinian Red Crescent said in a press release.
To AFP’s question on the matter, the Israeli army has not yet responded.
Al Amal Hospital is in the middle of fighting between Israeli forces and fighters from Hamas, which has been in power in Gaza since 2007. Yesterday, the Palestinian Red Crescent spoke of “heavy shelling” and “heavy artillery fire” around the perimeter of the facilities.
The non-governmental organization has been calling for days to protect the hospital and supply it with supplies, citing shortages of oxygen, medicine and fuel.
At the beginning of the week, the Red Crescent announced that 8,000 people who had taken refuge in Al Amal were evacuated from there.
In a video released by the MCO, a doctor can be seen pushing a stretcher on which an elderly woman is lying on a damaged road.
About 40 evacuees, 80 patients and 100 workers have remained in hospital since the evacuation, the Red Crescent reported on Monday.
