“The way the president’s conduct has been described in this report could not be more factually incorrect,” said the vice president of the United States.
The vice president of the USA Kamala Harris today denounced the “political motivations” of special counsel Robert Hurr, who on Thursday pointed to Joe Biden’s “bad memory” and age.
The attorney general’s finding, released Thursday at the end of the investigation into the classified documents case in the US president’s possession, is “clearly politically motivated,” Kamala Harris, a former U.S. attorney herself, told reporters at White House.
“The way the president’s conduct has been described in this report could not be more factually incorrect,” Harris also said.
In his conclusion, the special prosecutor does not recommend that criminal proceedings be brought against him Biden, 81, but Hurr concludes that Biden had knowingly retained and released classified documents after his vice presidency, when he was a private citizen. But he explained that “a charge is not warranted”, mainly because a court would give the benefit of the doubt to “a nice old man, well-meaning, with a bad memory”.
He also notes that “his memory has deteriorated”: the president “no longer remembered when he was vice president” or the exact year Bo’s eldest son died.
Robert Hurr, Republican and ex federal prosecutor of Marylandwas appointed in January 2023 by Biden administration Attorney General Merrick Garland to investigate the discovery in December 2022 and January 2023 of classified documents dating from Joe Biden’s time as vice president (2009-2017) at his residence in Wilmington (Delaware) and in an old office.
The Democratic president is running for re-election in November and will likely run into 77-year-old former President Donald Trump, the heavy favorite in the Republican primary.
Trump’s political supporters seized on the content of the report on Thursday, mostly saying that Joe Biden is no longer “fit” to govern.
