MPs and members of the House of Lords who make up the joint committee on human rights have made the above assessment of the bill while it is being pushed by the Sunak government

The UK government’s controversial bill to send irregular migrants and refugees directly to Rwanda to apply for asylum there is “fundamentally incompatible” with the UK’s human rights obligations and breaches international law, according to a parliamentary report.
The MPs and members of the House of Lords who make up the joint committee on human rights carried out the above assessment of the bill while it promoted by the Sunak government.
The bill is a key pillar of the government’s immigration policy as part of the British Prime Minister’s pledge to “stop the boats” crossing the English Channel.
The bill, which has been sent for consideration this week in the House of Lordsn, stipulates in a binding manner even for the courts that Rwanda is a safe third country for the deportation of migrants who have not arrived on British soil through legal channels.
In this way, the government claims to be allaying the concerns of the Supreme Court, which has ruled the African state an “unsafe third country”, thus freezing the implementation of the plan.
The report also says it is unclear whether there can actually be a guarantee that Rwanda will not deport asylum seekers to unsafe countries, as the British government claims is the case.
