There were no visitors at the Oceana water park, a new acquisition of the theme park run by the Liseberg company in the city, which was scheduled to open later this year, a spokesman for the park told Swedish news agency TT.
Footage shows slides engulfed in flames with several fire engines surrounding the area.
“The fire started on one of the water slides outside the building and then spread throughout the building,” Liseberg said in a statement.
Residents of a neighboring hotel and office workers in the area were evacuated, the statement added.
