Zakharova pointed out that Moscow’s response will be “extremely tough” as Moscow believes it is essentially dealing with thieves
THE Russia warned the West today that Moscow will react harshly if the US and the EU seize Russian resources worth hundreds of billions of dollars.
After the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022 the US and its allies have banned transactions with Russia’s central bank and finance ministry, freezing about $300 billion worth of Russian assets held in the West.
The EU on Monday passed a decision to freeze extraordinary revenues from Russia’s frozen assets, paving the way for their future use to rebuild Ukraine.
“It’s theft: it’s usurping something that doesn’t belong to you,” Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told Sputnik radio station.
Zakharova pointed out that Moscow’s response will be “extremely tough” as Moscow believes it is essentially dealing with thieves.
“Given that our country has characterized it as theft, our attitude will be the one (suitable) towards thieves,” stressed Zakharova.
