PPC’s plans to penetrate the Western Balkans and the Southeast Mediterranean region and the company’s transformation plan was presented by its president and CEO PPC Giorgos Stassis to the Assistant Secretary of State for Energy Resources at the US Department of State; Ambassador Geoffrey Pyatt, with whom he met in Washington.

PPC has already completed the acquisition of ENEL Romania which includes networks, supply activity and RES units, while the new business plan presented recently includes expansion into the Bulgarian market and/or the wider region, where the group aims to have 1.1 GW of installed capacity by 2030 .

The energy corridor ensures synergies in production from renewable sources and opportunities for cross-border electricity trade, while it is an important link in the energy sector for Three Seas Initiative which our country recently joined and is a cooperation project of the countries between the Baltic, Adriatic and Black Seas.

As stated by PPC sources, the penetration of the company in the region is considered by the American actor as an element that reduces the risk and facilitates the transition of the energy systems of the countries of the region to the next day that includes more RES and clearly less dependence on Russian natural gas .

The president and CEO of PPC Giorgos Stassis said yesterday:

“I had the pleasure to meet with Ambassador Geoffrey Pyatt Assistant Under Secretary of State for Energy Resources at the US Department of State, and to present to him the transformation plan of PPC S.A., and its regionalization in the region of the Western Balkans and the Southeast Mediterranean.
