Extensive, devastating floods hit Antalyathe large coastal city in the south of Turkey, after torrential rains.

The streets of the Turkish metropolis turned into lakes and riverswith the rushing waters sweeping away cars and flooding underground passages, ground floors of houses and shops.

City officials closed schools while many flights from the city’s airport were canceled.

Citizens were trapped inside a flooded city bus and uploaded images on social media.

The authorities found the lifeless body of a person inside a car in a flooded underpass while emergency services were mobilized.

“More than 300 kilograms of rainfall per square meter within 12 hours hit our city. We have mobilized with all our teams from the first moment. We will overcome this disaster with the strength of our solidarity” said the mayor of Antalya in a post.
