US President Joe Biden has once again called on Congress to act to tackle gun violence, after Wednesday’s shooting at the Super Bowl football winners’ parade in Kansas left at least one dead. and over twenty wounded.
“Jill and I are praying for those killed or injured (…) in Kansas and for our country to find the resolve to end this the senseless epidemic of gun violence that is tearing us apart“, says a press release released by Mr. Biden’s services.
A shooting spree took place yesterday in downtown Kansas City, Missouri, near an outdoor celebration of the NFL champion Chiefs’ Super Bowl victory, leaving one dead and at least twenty injured.
Fifteen of the injured have life-threatening injuries, Fire Chief Ross Grandison said at a late afternoon news conference.
An estimated one million people were in downtown Kansas City to celebrate their team’s Super Bowl championship, and the area where the shooting took place in Union Station was just steps away from where the team held a victory rally for thousands of fans.
