Would you like to start receiving a steady monthly income of 2,170 euros every month for the next two years as soon as you turn 18, with absolutely nothing to do? The answer is definitely yes, no matter how utopian such a scenario is.
In the case of Wales, however, it is also possible, as the local government launches a pilot program to support young people who decide to leave their family home as soon as they become adults.
Specifically, the program includes the monthly grant of 1,600 pounds or 2,170 euros for two years to those who turn 18 and decide to open their own household.
The generous and exuberant project is expected to involve around 500 people, with the total cost to the Welsh Government ranging to 20 20 million.
Authorities want to use the pilot program to assess the impact of earning a basic income at a young age, especially if you come from low-income families.
“Too many young people who leave their homes face significant obstacles in completing a successful transition to adulthood. The pilot program comes to ensure financial stability for the generation of young people who need it the most “, commented the Minister of Social Justice, Jane Hutt.
He added: “The program has been designed in such a way as to allow participants to receive more than just money. It envisages a series of actions for the integration of the individual in the world of adults “.
