US President Joe Biden announced today that Washington imposes more than 500 new sanctions against Russiaas the United States is seeking to increase pressure on Moscow to mark the second anniversary of Russia’s war in Ukraine.

The United States will also impose new export restrictions on nearly 100 entities for providing support to Russiawhile they will also take action to further reduce Russia’s energy revenues, Biden said in a statement.

With measures it is intended to make Russia face consequences for the war it is wagingas well as the death of opposition leader Alexei Navalny, Biden said.

“They will ensure that Putin will pay an even greater price for his aggression abroad and oppression at home.”Biden said of the sanctions.

Today’s measures target individuals linked to Navalny’s imprisonment as well as Russia’s financial sectorthe defense industry and its multi-continent supply networks, he said.

“In the two years that this war has lasted, the people of Ukraine continue to fight with tremendous courage. But they are running out of ammunition. “Ukraine needs more supplies from the United States to counter Russia’s incessant attacks, which are enabled by weapons and ammunition from Iran and North Korea,” Biden said.

“For this the House of Representatives must pass the bipartisan national security supplemental bill before it’s too late”.
