THE Switzerland announced today at United Nations that he intends to organize a peace summit on Ukraine “by the summer”.

Ukraine is trying to find support for the ten-point peace plan proposed by its president, Volodymyr Zelensky, amid signs of “fatigue” due to the war and while the front lines remain almost stationary. At the same time, Israel’s war with Hamas in the Gaza Strip is now at the center of the international community’s attention.

“At Ukraine’s request, we plan to organize a high-level peace summit by the summer,” said the Swiss foreign minister Ignacio Cassis speaking at the UN General Assembly, which was convened to mark the two-year anniversary of Russia’s invasion of its neighboring country. “I take this opportunity to invite all nations (…) to work together towards our common goal,” Cassis added.

Zelensky’s peace plan includes restoring Ukraine’s territorial integrity, withdrawing all Russian troops, protecting food and energy sources, securing nuclear technology, and freeing all prisoners of war.

“Russia cannot ignore the voice of the majority of the world if we all take a stand of principle and act together,” Ukraine’s foreign minister said Dmytro Kuleba.

“One should not waste time with Kiev’s pointless plans to negotiate on the basis of Zelensky’s so-called peace formula,” replied Russia’s UN ambassador, Vasily Nebenzia. “It is nothing more than an ultimatum to Russia and an attempt to draw as many countries as possible into endless sessions for this utopian plan,” he added.

Ukraine’s war effort relies on Western support for money and military equipment. Munitions have become a critical issue for Kiev as the US Congress stalls for months on approving billions of dollars in aid.

“I can’t imagine explaining to the people I met in Ukraine that we are tired,” said US Ambassador to the UN Linda Thomas-Greenfield. “These Ukrainians, these families who cannot afford to be tired, rely on us,” he stressed.
