President Zelensky appealed for timely help
The leaders of the Group of 7 (G7) pledged today to support Ukraine for as long as it takes in the war against Russia and said they will look for ways to make Moscow pay for the destruction it has caused with the Russian invasion and the war it is waging against the country.
The G7 leaders held a video conference on the occasion of the second anniversary of the Russian invasion, which has cost the lives of tens of thousands of people and great material and economic damage.
“As Ukraine enters the third year of this relentless war, its government and people can count on the support of the G7 for as long as it takes,” the G7 statement said.
At the start of the video conference, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called on Western allies to provide “timely” military aid to his country.
“You know very well what we need to protect our skies, to strengthen our land forces, what we need to support and continue our successes at sea and you know very well that these need to be given in time and that we are counting on you,” said President Zelensky.
