You can’t hurt Putin with one more resolution or a series of other sanctions that are no different from the previous ones. You can’t defeat him by thinking that he is a man of principle who has morals and rules, Navalnaya said
Yulia Navalnaya, widow of Alexei Navalny, spoke to the European Parliament about the situation of political prisoners in Russia.
After Navalny’s death, Navalnaya urges Western leaders to push for justice in her husband’s death and he has vowed to continue his work and struggle for a “free Russia.”
Yulia Navalny began the speech by saying that Strasbourg was one of the couple’s favorite cities, but she is now “not out and about” with her family, instead addressing parliament over her husband’s death in a remote Arctic penal colony.
Navalnaya then said that Vladimir Putin “killed” her husband.
Navalny was “tortured for three years” on his orders, he added, and describing his detention conditions said he was “starved and isolated from the outside world in a tiny cell and denied visits, phone calls and letters.”
Alexey inspired people despite the limitations put on her by Putin during her lifetime, Navalnaya continues.

“When he wasn’t allowed to go on TV, he turned to YouTube. When he was denied a vote, he came up with a strategy to wrest seats from Putin’s party,” said Yulia Navalnaya.
“Even in Putin’s gulag, Alexei managed to pass ideas on actions that would make the Kremlin panic”she added.
“Beating Putin requires you to be innovative. Putin cannot be bent by sanctions or resolutions or by morals and rules. This is the answer to the question. If you really want to beat Putin, you have to be innovative. And you need to stop being boring” said Yulia Navalnaya.
“You can’t hurt Putin with one more resolution or a series of other sanctions which does not differ from the previous ones. You can’t beat him thinking he’s a man of principle who has morals and rules.”
Navalnaya also told the European Parliament that they have to fight “this criminal gang” and that “tens of millions of Russians” they are against Putin and should not be prosecuted.
Yulia Navalnaya added that Putin must answer for what he did to Russia, Ukraine and her husband.
“Putin must answer for what he did to my country. Putin must answer for what he did in a neighboring, peaceful country. And Putin must answer for everything he did to Alexei”says.
Concluding with a tribute to Navalny, he added “My husband will never see what the beautiful Russia of the future will look like. And I will do everything I can to make his dream come true, that evil will fall and this beautiful future will come.”
