A representative of the Israeli government described the death of dozens of Palestinians during an operation to transport and distribute humanitarian aid in Gaza City as a tragedy. and stated that, according to the initial indications, the deaths were caused by the drivers of the trucks that crashed into the gathered crowds.
“At some point the trucks were overwhelmed by crowds and the people driving them, who were Gazan drivers, drove into the crowd, eventually killing, I understand, dozens of people,” Avith Hyman told reporters.
“Obviously it’s a tragedy, but we still don’t know the details,” he added as the army released video it said showed the Palestinians killed when the trucks fell on top of them.
