“Non” to Macron… 76% of French citizens, i.e. almost eight out of 10 French people, oppose the sending of French troops to Ukraine, hinted at by the French president, says a poll published by the French television station CNews.
This very large majority is rather homogeneous in terms of gender (77% male, 75% female) and age or socio-professional category. Respondents aged 50-64 are however even more reluctant to send in troops (85%), while those aged 18-24 are against it at 68%.
It is noted that a larger percentage (81%) of those opposed found in right-wing voters, while on the left the percentage is 67%. Yes, opposites they are also the voters of President Emmanuel Macron’s party “Renaissance”, with a percentage of 68%.
“There is no consensus today on sending, officially, (…) ground troops. But nothing should be ruled out. We will do whatever it takes to prevent Russia from winning this war.” said the French president on Tuesday during a press conference after the end of the international conference on support for Ukraine organized by the Élysée.
