See DW report that led to censorship of the dictatorship in Venezuela

A video from the program Cómo te afecta (How it affects you), which deals with corruption in Latin American countries, was what motivated the Nicolás Maduro regime to take the Deustche Welle signal in Spanish off the air in Venezuela. According to the National Union of Press Workers, two cable TV operators cut the German broadcaster’s channel.

On Monday (4), Maduro called DW a “Nazi” and accused the vehicle, financed by the German government, of participating in a “media campaign against Venezuela”. The following day, DW’s general director, Peter Limbourg, asked for the channel’s transmission to be reestablished. “The cancellation of DW’s distribution is a serious attack on the freedom of the Venezuelan people to inform themselves independently,” he said.

Presented by Venezuelan journalist Ernesto Andrés Fuenmayor, the 26-minute program addresses episodes of corruption in governments across the region, not just Venezuela. A short video about the report was also released on social media, in which “it is clearly stated that it is not known to what extent Nicolás Maduro himself is informed or involved” in Venezuela’s resource diversion schemes, points out DW .
