Boeing 777 passenger plane made an emergency landing at Los Angeles yesterday Thursday, after losing a tire during takeoff, a new incident added to a series of recent adventures of airplanes of the iconic American industry.

Video circulating online shows one of the Boeing’s landing gear wheels falling off seconds after takeoff from San Francisco International Airport.

The tire bounced and ended up in an airport parking lot. Cars were damaged, but no injuries were reported, according to local TV station KRON4.

The United Airlines plane was en route to Japan and had 249 people on board, the company said.

The type’s aircraft has six wheels on each leg of the landing gear so it can land safely if a wheel is lost or damaged, he reassured.

The emergency landing took place two months after an incident involving another model of the American manufacturer.

In early January, an emergency exit door on the wing of an Alaska Airlines Boeing 737 MAX 9 detached from the cabin shortly after takeoff.

Investigations by US federal aviation safety authorities have begun, while a report by an independent panel appointed by the watchdog, the US Civil Aviation Administration (FAA), has highlighted gaps in Boeing’s quality and safety controls.
