British Defense Secretary Grant Shapps announced today that a British Navy ship shot down two attack drones launched by Yemen’s Houthi rebels.

British forces are joining forces with the US and France, among other countries, to protect shipping lanes in the Red Sea after rebel attacks on ships in the area began.

“Last night, the frigate HMS Richmond used Sea Ceptor missiles to shoot down two attack drones – successfully repelling yet another illegal attack by the Iranian-backed Houthis,” Shapps said in a post on X.

“The UK and our allies will continue to take the necessary steps to save lives and protect freedom of navigation,” he added.
