Former US President Donald Trump will not offer money to Ukraine to counter the invasion of Russia, if he wins the presidential election in November, something that would hasten the end of the war, he declared Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban after the meeting she had with him.

The nationalist Orban, a staunch supporter of Trump’s return to the White House, met with him in Florida on Friday.

“He will not give a single cent to the Ukrainian-Russian war and therefore he will end,” Orbán said speaking on Hungarian state television late yesterday.

“As it is clear that Ukraine cannot stand on its own feet”, “if the Americans do not give money and weapons, but neither do the Europeans, then this war will end”, he estimated.

“And if the Americans don’t give money and the Europeans are not able to finance this war on their own, then it will be over,” he added.

The Hungarian prime minister has refused to send weapons to Kiev and has maintained close ties with Moscow even after its invasion of Ukraine in 2022. He last met Russian President Vladimir Putin in October in China, despite efforts by EU to isolate Moscow.

Orban said how to end the war with peace talks after a ceasefire and create a secure and stable Europe was “another issue”. But first, peace must be achieved and “Trump has the means to achieve it”, assessed the Hungarian Prime Minister.

In its statement about the meeting that Trump had with Orban, the campaign team of the former US president did not mention the issue of Ukraine. He limited himself to noting that the two men discussed issues concerning their countries, such as border security.

“We have been informed about it, but we have nothing to say as no details have been presented and it is not clear what kind of plan it might be,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said today.
