A 12-year-old Palestinian boy was fatally wounded tonight by Israeli fire during incidents in a refugee camp in occupied East Jerusalem. Rami Hamdan al-Haluli was shot by Israeli security forces in the Suafat camp and died a short time later in the hospital where he was treated.

According to Israeli police, incidents broke out in the Shuafat camp in the afternoon, where security forces were attacked with Molotov cocktails and fireworks. “During the riots, a police officer shot and killed a suspect who was threatening law enforcement by throwing fireworks at them,” the press release said. “The suspect was arrested and taken to a hospital,” but succumbed to his injuries, police added.

A video-document of the shooting that the young Palestinian received saw the light of day through social networks.

The Shuafat refugee camp, in occupied East Jerusalem, is often the scene of bloody clashes. The 12-year-old Palestinian was the first victim of clashes in Jerusalem since the start of Ramadan.
