Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar insists on the rhetoric of provocations, just two days after his meeting with his Greek counterpart Nikos Panayotopoulos in Brussels.
Akar said that his meeting with Mr. Panagiotopoulos took place in a positive atmosphere and immediately afterwards he hurried to reverse the reality and present Greece as responsible for the increase of tension between Athens and Ankara.
In particular, he stated that with provocative actions Greece increases the tension, violates international law and selectively applies the conditions of Lausanne and Paris.
He also claimed that Greek politicians have expansive aspirations in their speeches, without naming them.
He spoke of “sevda”, ie Greece’s love for armaments and described them as “unfair effort”, while he did not hesitate at the moment when the Turkish economy collapses to make suggestions in Athens not to waste so much money on armaments.
Akar also made no secret of his annoyance that the Greek side is highlighting Turkish challenges at both NATO and EU level, while attacking Brussels, saying that it is wrong for Europeans to accept Greece’s practice.
