Severe storms swept through the center of the United States yesterday, Thursday night, causing tornadoes, one of which killed three people in Indiana, US media reported.

Three people were killed at a trailer park in the neighboring state of Winchester, Indiana, during a tornado, ABC and NBC television networks reported, citing local police.

The US Weather Service (NWS) has issued a tornado warning for more than 13 million people in the center of the country, and said a “very dangerous tornado” has struck the state of Ohio.

“It’s an absolute disaster,” said the president of the Indian Lakes Chamber of Commerce in that state. “I’ve never seen anything like this in my entire life,” Amber Fegan told ABC television, “downtown” the situation is “really, really bad.”

Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear said on social media that a tornado had passed through Gallatin and Tribble counties without causing any casualties.

Tornadoes, a spectacular and unpredictable weather phenomenon, are relatively common in the United States, particularly in the central and southern parts of the country.
