Al Shifa, the largest hospital in the Gaza Strip before the war, is today one of the few health facilities that are even partially functional in the northern part of this area
The Israeli military announced today that killed about 90 gunmen and captured 160 in a raid which he performed in the hospital Al Shifa of Gaza.
“During yesterday troops neutralized terrorists and located weapons in the hospital area, preventing anything bad from happening to civilians, patients, medical teams and medical equipment,” says the army in a statement.
Al Shifa, the largest hospital in the Gaza Strip before the war, it is today one of the few health facilities that are at least partially functional in the northern part of this area and also houses displaced civilians.
The Israeli raid on the hospital began in the early hours of Monday morning. The army said it had sent special forces there, backed by infantry and tanks, based on intelligence that the hospital was again being used by gunmen.
Last November, Israel received harsh criticism when troops first raided the hospital, where they discovered tunnels they claimed were being used by Hamas as command and control centres.
Hamas and medical staff deny the hospital was being used for military purposes or to house fighters of the organization.
