Three Palestinians were killed and another wounded today by an Israeli strike on a car in the occupied West Bank city of Jenin, according to the latest report from the Palestinian Authority.

The Israeli Armed Forces (IDF) announced that a drone struck a car in the Jenin area, releasing video footage of the operation.

In a joint statement issued later by the IDF and the Shin Bet (including Israel’s internal security service), it is stated that among the dead are Ahmed Barakat, a high-ranking official of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, and Mohamed Hawassin, a local commander arm of the particular organization. Both were accused of “terrorist attacks” against Israelis.

Images from the scene of the attack show a damaged car and a second vehicle that suffered minor damage.

A video from a security camera provided to the Reuters news agency by Mahmoud Gharib shows the moment of the attack on a busy street.

“We saw human limbs being thrown on the road,” he said. “A man and his wife, who were riding in a passing car, were miraculously saved“, Grajeb added.

“Suddenly there was an explosion near my car. Due to the powerful explosion, my car caught fire“, 30-year-old Amir Alsaba, driver of the second vehicle, told AFP.

Since the start of the war triggered by an unprecedented attack by Hamas on October 7, Israel has been pounding the Gaza Strip but has also stepped up military operations in the West Bank.
