The investigation was launched into “death threats, possession of weapons and the introduction of weapons into a school environment,” Saint-Etienne prosecutor David Sarmatz told AFP.
French justice has launched an investigation today for an 8-year-old child who went to his school with two knives and is suspected of making death threats against his teacher and police officers, Agence France-Presse reported today, citing the prosecutor’s office in Saint-Etienne (central-eastern France).
The investigation was launched into “death threats, possession of weapons and the introduction of weapons into a school environment”, the prosecutor explained to AFP Saint Etienne David Sharmats.
Students of the school informed a teacher about the threats made by the 8-year-old, in whose bag two meat knives were found, according to the Le Figaro newspaperwhich relayed the information.
In communication with the French Agency, the management of the elementary school Saint-Charlesin St. Etienne, stated that “there is a process in progress” and did not “want to comment” on the matter.
The 8-year-old, who spoke to police as did his parents, disputes the statements attributed to him, according to the prosecution.
“His age prevents any prosecution against this child, for whom specialist psychologists and psychiatrists will tell us what these events reveal about his personality and his needs for educational support,” explained David Sarmatz.
