The bus had started from Botswana and was heading to the town of Moria, in the northern part of South Africa, where hundreds of thousands of people gather every year to celebrate Easter.
The accident occurred on a huge hanger bridge located between two hills near Mamatlakala, Limpopo Province, more than 300 kilometers from Johannesburg.
The driver appears to have lost control of the bus, which hit the bridge safety bars and plunged into canyon 50 meters deep,

Only an 8-year-old girl was miraculously saved.
The sole survivor of the tragedy remains in hospital but her life does not appear to be in danger.
“He is receiving treatment and doing well. She was not seriously injured,” Transport Ministry spokesman Vongani Chauke said, adding that family members were rushing to her side from Botswana.
Although South Africa has one of the most developed road networks on the continent, many accidents occur, especially during the Easter weekend and year-end holidays.
