A new break of one hour of the Parliament session, on the agenda of which is the motion of censure against the government of Zoran Zaef submitted by the opposition, was given by the Vice President of the House, at the request of the small opposition party, “Levica” (Left) .
The session of Parliament started at noon and was interrupted almost immediately, after the opposition party VMRO-DPMNE requested a break of one hour.
In order for the motion of censure to be approved, it must be voted by a majority, ie by at least 61 deputies out of the 120 that make up the entire Parliament of the country, however the opposition, according to all indications, cannot secure such a majority.
MPs from the ruling coalition parties are abstaining from today’s meeting. Only 60 deputies are present in the House of Representatives (all of them from the opposition, who support the motion of censure), but with this number there can be no quorum for the meeting of the House. Opposition MP Kastriot Rexhepi, from the small Albanian party “BESA”, is absent from the opposition ranks.
Parliament Speaker Talat Xhaferi, a member of Albania’s ruling DUI party, said at the start of today’s meeting that he did not support the opposition’s initiative to overthrow the government and added that he would abstain. He then summoned the Vice President of the Parliament, who comes from the opposition, to chair the sitting.
