Any response by Israel to the attack it received from Iran should be “smart” and “designed in a way that should try to limit and de-escalate (tension)” he said to Prime Minister Netanyahu, British Foreign Secretary David Cameron according to his statement.
Speaking from Israel which he visited, Lord Cameron added that “No one wants to see this conflict grow and spread.”
He noted that the world’s attention should be turned to the situation in Gaza, where Hamas continues to hold hostages for 193 days and rejects proposals for an agreement. “Everyone must recognize that it is Hamas that is causing the conflict to continue,” added Lord Cameron.
However, Benjamin Netanyahu explained after the meeting that Israel he will decide for himself about the retaliation.
Before meeting the Israeli prime minister, Lord Cameron was received by Israeli President Isaac Herzog and his counterpart Israel Katz.
He is also meeting in the West Bank with Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa.
Meanwhile, speaking to Sky News, the former director of security intelligence of the Israeli secret service Mossad, Zohar Palti, estimated that “there is no doubt” that a strike against Iran’s nuclear facilities is also on the table of Israel’s attack options.
