Palestinian Civil Defense officials today called on the United Nations to investigate possible war crimes in Nasser Hospitalin the center of the Gaza Strip, where nearly 400 bodies were recovered from mass graves after the withdrawal of Israeli soldiers from the city of Khan Yunis and the hospital complex.

“There are cases on the ground executions some patients while undergoing surgery and wearing surgical gowns at the Nasser Medical Complex,” civil defense officials said at a press conference, without providing evidence.

Palestinian authorities also reported that they were spotted dead bodies at the hospital Al Shifa in northern Gaza, which has been the target of an Israeli special forces operation.

The highness commissioner of the United Nations for human rights Volker Turk said yesterday “shocked» from the destruction of medical facilities in Nasser and Al Shifa and reports of mass graves, according to a spokesman.

The Israeli military said the Palestinian Authority’s claims that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) buried the bodies were “baseless and unsupported”. He said the forces searching for the Israeli hostages had examined bodies previously buried by the Palestinians near Nasser Hospital and returned them after examining them.

“The examination was carried out carefully and exclusively in places where the intelligence services had reported the possible presence of hostages. The examination was carried out carefully with respect and preserving the dignity of the deceased,” the army said.

Israel has denied killing those found in the graves and has released video that the Israeli side says shows Palestinians digging those graves before the IDF operation.

The Palestinian Civil Defense Agency accused Israel of burying a number of bodies at the Nasser compound in plastic bags three meters deep where they rapidly decomposed, hiding evidence of his “crimes”, including torture.
