Anthony Blinken also meets with Chinese President Xi Jinping
The US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken he expressed today, during his meeting with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yihis concerns regarding the Beijing’s support for Moscow; a US official said.
Anthony Blinken “discussed concerns regarding the People’s Republic of China’s support of the Russian defense industrial base,” as well as Taiwan, the South China Sea and the Middle East, said Matthew Miller, a State Department spokesman.
Blinken’s trip to China – his second in a year – comes as the two world powers seek to expand communication and strengthen ties while addressing a number of thorny issues.
“Should China and the United States stay on track to move forward steadily or return to a downward spiral? This is an important question for our two countries and it tests our sincerity and abilities,” said Wang to Blinken.
In his comments to Wang, Blinken pointed to a “shared responsibility” between the two countries to “make sure we are as clear as possible about the areas where we have differences, at least, to avoid misunderstandings, to avoid miscalculations. I hope that we can make some progress on the issues that our presidents have agreed that we need to work together on, but also clarify our differences, our intentions and make it clear to each other where we stand,” Blinken stressed.
Blinken also meets with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
The announcement was made by Chinese Public Security Minister Wang Xiaohong, who met with Blinken. The information was later confirmed by the State Department.
