In the resolution of the European Parliament, adopted at the plenary session in Strasbourg, its members asked not to recognize the results of the Russian presidential elections
The European Parliament is riddled with internal contradictions and has long turned into a generator of crude statements, whose actions are largely based on Russophobia, the Russian President’s spokesman told the media on Friday Dmitry Peskov, commenting on the EP resolution calling for the denial of recognition of the results of the Russian presidential elections.
“The European Parliament has long taken the position of strong, systematic Russophobia. And, of course, he persists in this attitude contrary to the main call of the legislators: to build a dialogue and to look for ways to build a dialogue. It turned into a machine full of internal contradictions that continues to produce crude statements,” the Kremlin spokesman claimed according to TASS.
In the resolution of the European Parliament, adopted at the plenary session in Strasbourg, its members demanded that the results of the Russian presidential election, which it described as undemocratic, not be recognized. The document’s authors also recommended that EU states support what they described as independent civil society organizations, independent media and human rights defenders and support Russia’s democratic opposition. EP resolutions do not have legal force and are advisory in nature, but are used in the EU to promote and disseminate certain political views.
