The British Foreign Secretary expressed the hope that Hamas will accept the proposal before it
The current proposal being submitted to Hamas for the Gaza war includes; ceasefire for 40 days and the release of thousands of Palestinian prisoners in exchange for the release of Israeli hostages, Britain’s foreign secretary said on Monday David Cameron.
“The current proposal before Hamas includes the release of potentially thousands of Palestinian prisoners”he argued.
“I hope Hamas will accept the proposal before it,” he adds, saying that the war will not end until all the captives are freed.
Cameron also argued that the leadership of Hamas and those responsible for the October 7 attack must leave Gaza to “have a political horizon for a two-state solution”.
At the same time, Israeli media reports that Israel has reduced to 33 the number of hostages that Hamas is expected to release in exchange for a ceasefire and the release of Palestinian prisoners held by Israel.
Blinken: “Extremely generous” truce proposal to Hamas
Earlier, the US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken expressed hope that Hamas would accept a “extremely generous” offer in order to stop the Israeli attack on Gaza in exchange for the release of the hostages.
“Hamas has before them an extremely, extremely generous offer from Israel,” Blinken said in Riyadh, during the World Economic Forum.
“They have to make a decision and they have to make it quickly (…)” and “I hope they make the right decision,” he said, referring to Hamas leaders.
