Six people were killed and one was wounded in an attack by a gunman on a mosque in western Afghanistan’s Herat province, the interior ministry said.

Yesterday, Monday, “at 21:00 (19:30 Greek time), a person, who has not been identified, opened fire on worshipers in a mosque in Guzara district”, in the southern part of the provincial capital Herat, as a result “they were killed six civilians and one injured,” announced the ministry’s spokesman Abdul Mateen Kani through X.

As of this morning, no one had claimed responsibility for the attack in the country, which is frequently attacked by the Islamic State of Khorasan (ISIS-K), which often targets the Shiite community.

The ISIS-K group claimed responsibility for an April 21 bomb attack on a minibus in a Kabul district. The attack claimed the life of one person and injured three others.
