Meeting with the president of Israel Isaac Herzog the US Secretary of State had on Wednesday Anthony Blinken, who accused Hamas on the failure to reach an agreement on the hostages. As he said, the terrorist organization of Gaza is “the only reason this has not been achieved”.

“No delays, no excuses,” explained Blinken. “The time is now.”

The US State Department also blamed Hamas for the plight of Gaza’s civilians: “We also need to focus on the people in Gaza who are suffering in this Hamas-driven firefight and so we focus on getting them the help they need — the food, the medicine, the water, the shelter.”

For his part, Herzog criticized the possibility issuing arrest warrants against Israeli officials, with the name of the Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu first on the list, from the International Criminal Court in The Hague.

“Our enemies and other elements they attempt to undermine the entire process using international legal forums that were established to bring about a world order that pursues peace and pursues the values and norms that we all believe in in the modern world,” said Israel’s president. “Especially the efforts made at the International Criminal Court.”

Using the ICC against Israel, he argued according to the Times of Israel, “is a clear and present danger for democracies and free and peaceful nations pursuing the rules of international law, and I call on all our allies and friends to oppose and reject any such efforts.”

Blinken will then meet families of American hostages held in Gaza before heading to Jerusalem to meet Benjamin Netanyahu.
