“New Russian ballistic missile attack” hit Odesa, the mayor of the southeastern Ukrainian city, Hennady Trukhanov, announced via Telegram
A Russian ballistic missile attack injured nearly fifteen people in Odessa, a strategic Ukrainian port on the Black Sea that had already suffered fatal strikes earlier this week, local authorities said overnight Wednesday.
A “new Russian ballistic missile attack” hit Odesa, the mayor of the southeastern Ukrainian city, Hennadi Trukhanov, announced via Telegram.
“Civil infrastructure was destroyed” and “13 people were injured,” he said, adding that firefighters were deployed to deal with a large “fire,” without elaborating.
The military governor of Odesa, Oleh Kiper, reported for his part that a “Russian missile attack on Odesa” injured 14 people, adding that “civilian infrastructure was damaged”, among them “post office warehouses”.
Odessa, a key infrastructure for Ukrainian exports, is frequently targeted by one-way missile and drone attacks.
In the early hours of Wednesday morning, local authorities announced that three people were killed in a Russian missile attack there. On Monday, similar strikes claimed the lives of five people.
Russia has been relentlessly shelling Ukrainian cities for months as its forces advance on the eastern front as Ukraine awaits supplies from the US that Kiev says are critical for its troops.
