The ‘Dali’, a 300m long container ship, struck a pier on the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore on March 26, causing it to collapse.
Six workers carrying out repair work on the road surface of the bridge, which was hit by the ship, were lost in the waters of the river. Two others were rescued.
The victim, whose body was found yesterday, was identified by authorities as Jose Minor Lopez, a 37-year-old laborer from Baltimore.
“Jose Minor Lopez, the sixth and final missing victim, was recovered today,” Baltimore Mayor Brandon M. Scott told Platform X.
Work to fully reopen the channel will continue “as we close the chapter on this recovery effort,” Scott said.
The collapse of the bridge led to a partial blockade of maritime transport in one of the country’s busiest ports.
The FBI and the National Transportation Safety Board opened an investigation into the crash.
