Jens Stoltenberg met today in Rome with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.

Jens Stoltenberg met today in Rome with the Italian Prime Minister Georgia Meloni. At the end of their conversation, in a statement to Ansa, the secretary-general of the Atlantic Alliance praised Italy’s role as a “faithful and important ally”, adding that the meeting with the head of the Italian government was positive and that “a broad reference was made range of issues, which, at this stage, are of key importance to our security.”
It is noted that the gg. of NATO is thus differentiated from the French president Emmanuel Macron who favored sending European troops to Ukraine, provoking reactions from other Western leaders, but also of Moscow.
Great to meet PM @GiorgiaMeloni in Rome. We discussed #Italy‘s many contributions to #NATO, and our preparations for the NATO Summit in July. When leaders meet in Washington, we will take further decisions to support Ukraine, strengthen our defenses, and work more with partners. pic.twitter.com/3kXi9diLVg
