Nearly eight weeks after it ran aground on Baltimore’s Francis Scott Key Bridge, the Dali container ship is sailing again.

The Dali struck the bridge on March 26, causing it to collapse and killing six workers.
The ship lost power before veering off course and striking the bridge, sending about 4,000 tons of debris into the Patapsco River. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
The 289-metre-long ship was covered in bridge debris, forcing it to remain in place until last week when a controlled demolition last week freed it.
Almost two months later #Dali caused the #Baltimore Bridge collapse, the cargo vessel has been successfully refloated and is currently transiting to a terminal in Baltimore.

The Army Corps of Engineers said it would take about 21 hours to bring Dali to a nearby terminal.
This required first emptying the ship’s tanks, which had been filled with large amounts of water to keep it from swaying, in order to raise the Dali from the bottom of Maryland’s Patapsco River.
At low tide around 07:00 EST (1200 BST), several tugboats began moving the Dali to a nearby marine terminal. Debris and parts of the roadway are still visible on top of the badly damaged ship.
Officials said the ship will remain at the terminal for four to six weeks before being moved to Norfolk, Virginia for further repairs.
A total of 21 crew members, most of whom are Indians, have remained on board. Their phones have been seized by the FBI and they have had limited communication with the coast. Union officials said earlier this month that “morale is understandably down” on board.
