THE Palestinian Authority stated earlier with all solemnity that he welcomes the announcement by the Prime Minister of Norway to recognize its state Palestine and that the procedures for issuing recognition decrees will be completed on May 28.

Particularly worrying was the fact that the official state news agency of the Palestinian National Authority, Wafa, refers to recognitions by other countries, including the Republic of Cyprus, which it calls, like Turkey, the “Greek Administration of Southern Cyprus”!

Specifically it is noted:

“The Presidency urged countries of the world, especially European countries that have not yet recognized the State of Palestine, to recognize the State of Palestine in accordance with the internationally recognized two-state solution based on resolutions of international legitimacy and the 1967 lines, and to follow the example of Norway, Ireland and Spain, which have chosen the path of supporting the achievement of peace and stability and the consolidation of the norms of international legitimacy and international law.

It is noteworthy that eight member countries of the European Union recognize the State of Palestine and these are Bulgaria, Poland, the Czech Republic, Romania, Slovakia, Hungary, Greek Administration of Southern Cyprus and Sweden”.

Cyprus made an official apology – “Mea culpa” from the Palestinian side

A little while later the state agency of the Palestinian Authority made a change and at the same time sent its apologies to Nicosia. Nicosia’s immediate moves took place and the change came a short time after the issue was posted.
