A video with one Russian military helicopter shot down during fighting at Gostomel airport, near Kiev, has been posted on twitter, however according to the BBC, the source of the video is unknown.
“A Russian K-52 helicopter and three helicopters near Gostomel were shot down in the Kiev area near Mezhyhirya,” the ministry said in a statement posted on its website.
The commander-in-chief of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Valerii Zaluzhnyi, has confirmed that the army is fighting with Russian forces for control of the airport in the Kiev region, Reuters reports.
It is noted that Gostomel is the most important international cargo airport of Ukraine, as well as an important military air base.
