Twelve people were injured during a flight to Dublin when turbulence occurred at noon on Sunday. Eight of them were taken to hospital, but their condition is not considered serious.

The Qatar Airways flight from Doha experienced turbulence over Turkey, and after landing in Dublin at around 13:00 (15:00 local time Greece time), the airport’s emergency services had to be rushed.

Six passengers and six crew members were injured.

“Qatar Airways flight QR107 from Doha landed safely as scheduled at Dublin Airport just before 1pm on Sunday. On landing, the aircraft required emergency services, including the Airport Police and the Fire and Rescue Department, as well as 6 passengers and 6 crew members [12 συνολικά] reported injuries after the aircraft experienced turbulence during its flight over Turkey,” a Dublin Airport spokesman said.

“The Dublin Airport team continues to provide full on-site assistance to passengers and airline staff,” he added.

“All passengers were assessed for injury prior to de-boarding the aircraft.”

“Eight passengers were transported then to the hospital. The flight back to Doha is scheduled to depart as normal this afternoon, albeit with a delay. Flights at Dublin Airport were not affected and are continuing as normal this afternoon.

For its part, Qatar Airways confirmed that flight QR017, a Boeing B787-9, landed safely this afternoon.

In a statement, the airline said “a small number of passengers and crew suffered minor injuries during the flight and are now receiving medical attention.”

“The matter is now subject to an internal investigation,” the airline added.

It is noted that last Tuesday aircraft of Singapore Airlines pA flight from London to Singapore experienced severe turbulence, killing one passenger and seriously injuring 30 others.
