The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) are operating in Rafah in a “targeted” and “precise” manner, Vice Admiral Daniel Hagari said on Tuesday in response to a Reuters report citing eyewitnesses that Israeli tanks were in its center. Rafa, despite an order by the International Criminal Court in Tel Aviv to halt the military operation.

“There are still Hamas battalions in Rafah. A few days ago, rockets from Rafah were fired towards Tel Aviv, millions of people went to shelters,” he said, referring to the attack that took place last Sunday at noon and was claimed by Hamas.

“Today and yesterday, we detected tunnels again along the Philadelphia Corridor, these are tunnels going to Sinai,” he added.

Hagari said the IDF is demolishing the tunnels in Sinai and talking to the Egyptian government.

The Philadelphia Corridor is a strip of land 14 kilometers long and 100 meters wide that runs along the border between Gaza and Egypt. Israeli troops entered the corridor and took control of the Rafah crossing earlier this month.
