Turkey: Ankara leaves possibility of closing Bosphorus Straits

All scenarios about closure of the Bosphorus Straits Ankara seems to be considering blocking the passage of Russian warships from that point.

The representative of the ruling party, Omer Celikwho participates in all the meetings held on this issue in Turkey, stated yesterday that “Indeed, for countries in a state of war, the straits are closing”.

At the same time, Tayyip Erdogan clearly condemned Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, underlining his support for Volodymyr Zelensky, with whom he even spoke by telephone.

In fact, there was a barrage of telephone calls from members of the Erdogan government. Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoλουlu spoke with his US counterpart Anthony Blinken, while Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar also had contacts with his American counterpart Lloyd Austin.
