The approval is for their use near the border when the other side attacks specific targets in Ukraine, Biden said – Russia’s reaction
President Joe Biden has been adamant that US weapons will not be used to strike Moscow or the Kremlin, reiterating that approval of their use on Russian soil is limited to specific areas.
In particular, the American president during an interview with ABC News, when asked whether weapons manufactured in the USA have already been used on Russian soil since he authorized their use for this purpose, did not answer directly, but made it clear that there is no authorization for to target Russia’s capital or seat of government.
“The authorization is to use them near the border when the other side attacks specific targets in Ukraine,” Biden said in the abc interview, adding that “we don’t allow strikes 200 miles inside Russia and we don’t allow strikes in Moscow and the Kremlin ».
Referring to Vladimir Putin’s comments that “supplying Ukraine with high-precision weapons for strikes on Russian soil is direct participation in this war,” Biden said, “I’ve known him for over 40 years. It has been my concern for 40 years. He is not a decent person.”
“He’s a dictator and he’s struggling to make sure he keeps his country together while he continues this attack. We’re not giving them weapons to hit Moscow or to hit the Kremlin, we’re giving them to hit right across the border, where they’re coming under significant fire from conventional weapons that the Russians have been using to invade Ukraine and kill Ukrainians.”
