Intense pressure from American diplomacy to reach an agreement on all sides – It also pressures Egypt to close Rafah if Hamas does not agree
Qatar has given Hamas an ultimatum to accept a cease-fire deal proposed by the US and Israel or face expulsion from Doha, according to a CNN report.
At the same time, American diplomacy is exerting intense pressure on members of the Israeli government to accept the cease-fire agreement in Gaza.
CNN reveals that similar pressure is being exerted by the US on Qatar in order to bring about a result in the negotiations.
In particular, the US has been pressuring Qatar for months to announce that it will expel Hamas if it does not accept the deal.
According to CNN, the threat has already been made, with Qatar making it clear to Hamas members that failure to reach a ceasefire agreement would result in their expulsion from Qatar.
Hamas’s demand for a complete withdrawal of Israeli troops from all of Gaza before accepting the cease-fire agreement has caused delays in the deal.
Pressure on Egypt
The US has also stepped up its pressure on Egypt to close the Rafah crossing to Gaza if Hamas does not agree to a ceasefire.
US officials told CNN that the diplomatic campaign was working and that Egypt had stepped up its pressure on Hamas.
There is no exact confirmation of how effective the pressure was, as Egypt has been reticent to publicize its dialogue with Hamas.
