The Russian Foreign Ministry has announced that it has revoked the accreditation of an Austrian public radio and television journalist and ordered her to leave the country.

This is a retaliatory action, following the withdrawal of the Russian news agency TASS’s correspondent accreditation in Austria.

The Austrian public broadcaster ÖRF has so far had two correspondents in Russia, the German Agency was informed.

The Austrian embassy was informed in advance of the decision and notified EU member state media correspondents of the retaliatory measure.

ÖRF did not respond when dpa tried to contact it for comment.

TASS’s Vienna correspondent accreditation was withdrawn on April 30 and he was ordered to leave Austrian territory by June 7, according to the Russian Foreign Ministry. No explanation was given for this decision, which is discriminatory against the state-run Russian news agency, he added.
