A total of 27 countries have agreed to reinforce Ukrainian forces following a donors’ teleconference conference hosted by UK Defense Secretary Ben Wallace late Friday.
According to Sky News, the armament will include anti-tank and anti-aircraft weapons, as well as ammunition and medical supplies.
The donors believe that this aid can safely reach the possession of the Ukrainian armed forces despite the fighting with the Russian invading forces up to Kiev.
Sky News, without naming the countries beyond the United Kingdom and the United States, says that even countries that before the invasion had avoided reinforcing the Ukrainian armed forces will send aid. Among them are countries that are not members of NATO.
Meanwhile, British Undersecretary of Defense James Hippie said this morning that he did not acknowledge reports of the occupation of Melitopolis on the southern front of the conflict by Russian forces.
He said Russian forces were “not even close” to the original timetable for the invasion, which meant that the need for additional supplies posed an additional challenge for the Kremlin that “we do not think they thought they would face.”
In the early hours of the morning, the British Ministry of Defense in a new information stated that the Russian forces had been advanced in various positions but still face strong Ukrainian resistance.
Regarding Kiev, he said that forces were advancing towards the capital from multiple axes “in an attempt to encircle the city”.
The briefing also spoke of a possible Russian amphibious operation between Melitopolis and Mariupol, but also of the retention of critical cities by Ukrainian forces.
Late Friday night, London announced the freezing of assets in Britain of Vladimir Putin and Sergei Lavrov, while Boris Johnson spoke on video about a “tragedy” for both Ukraine and Russia.
Speaking in Russian, he told the Russian people that he did not think the war was being waged on their behalf, and in Ukrainian he told the Ukrainians that “this crisis, this tragedy can and must end because the world needs a free and sovereign Ukraine.”
